Very thoughtful presentation. One thing more might be nice in a followup: a discussion of how much effort is involved. Execution time is a reasonable measure if a program is going to be in use permanently, but for many purposes, development time dominates. Both the time to actually write the program, and the amount of background learning a given approach presupposes. Be great to hear your thoughts on that!
