Very nice explanation. I took linear algebra forty years ago and never gained a clue about what it really was. For some reason linear algebra courses invariably seem to front-load all the tedious mechanical parts and you don't find out what anything means until you're a year in! It's actually a beautiful thing, but I doubt most students ever find that out.
