Nice article, but I gotta call you on your numbers. One white man in three in the Klan? No way, not even at its brief peak in the 20's. Estimates of the Klan's membership at its max range from the 100k's to four million, with the high end being almost certainly Klan propaganda. With about 106 million Americans at the time, the highest estimates would one white man in 10, and more realistic estimates would be 1/10 that, call it one in a hundred. That's still a lot of Klansmen, but it's nowhere near 1 in 3.
