I'm surprised that anyone would even bother to mention number one. Of course. But for the rest, they all seem to trace back to the abomination that is computer-aided mating. Dangling countless thousands of seeming possibilities (most of which aren't possibilities at all) in front of people leads to a handful of men getting unlimited sexual options, and a wasteland of disappointment the many. For women, it means that the most superficially appealing of the men have too many options for them to bother focussing, so of course it seems like men are exploitative assholes. In statistical terms, the sample is highly non-random and biased. Many of the mass of men who haven't got a chance cease to believe it is even seriously possible, and become embittered about the whole thing. My love life started decades before the Web burst on the scene, and lasted for decades after, so I've seen both sides, and I'm surprised anyone bothers even try for love online. People would be so much happier looking for love face to face, forming relationships with people they meet in their daily lives. Every hour spent online is an hour you're not out in the world meeting real people.

I was an artist until my thirties when I discovered computers and jumped ship for a few decades. Now I'm back to it. You can probably find some on instagram.
