I think you misunderstand me. I'm not talking about what should be, or the motivations of the people the author decries. Only the economics that essentially no economist of any gender disputes. And why is me being a man relevant? Practically the first thing that happens when modernizing countries release women from the traditional gender roles, is the fertility rates plummet. Everywhere for the last century or more. The resulting demographic crisis is a major and well-known driver of modern history. Even as far back as the Edwardian Age, anxiety about demographics contributed to France's willingness to jump into war with Germany because they feared there were too few French babies coming down the pike to have a large enough army in the next generation (see Barbara Tuchman.) Today, the same anxiety drives Islamist bellicosity, particularly in Iran, which faces economic calamity that is ramping up right now. It is also a major factor in Russian aggression. Like much of Western Europe, they are facing a population decline of something like 30% per generation! You need to read more.
