Glad to see someone writing about L2. A person so evil that straight-up reporting about him sounds like propaganda. Among modern world class bad men he's almost unique in that he wasn't trying, or even pretending to be trying, to do some kind of social good. The other great monsters, even Hitler, were in some sense revolutionaries trying to usher in a new and better world, or in the case of Hitler, a better Germany. They had plenty of garden variety psychopaths to help with the mechanics, but they all framed what they did as good. AFAIK Leopold II was the only one who made no pretense. Odd that his son was a great man and a hero.
